May 2018

The 2017 / 2018 Season was a very successful one for the Club.
Our B team finished Runners up in the Premier, in Division 1 our C team gained promotion to the Premier by finishing second, the F team won Division 2 by an amazing 26pts, Division 3 was won by our K team (winning every game, bar one which they drew).

The National Cadet League finished successfully for our teams:-
Our A team won Division 1, our B team were Runners up in Division 2 and our C Team won Division 4.

In the Cobb Cup we have 4 teams in the last 8 and no Warren Spring Teams are playing each other.

Again the Club dinner was a great success (well done Bill) with in excess of 50 people attending.

February 2018
All of the cup finals have been played (except for Cobb Cup). The club did very well, being represented in all of them, we won all except the Willmott Cup (Premier), where we were runner up to Bedwell A. (see February Newsletter for more details).

The second round of the National Cadet League was held at the end of January again our teams did well.  (see February Newsletter for more details) and the Junior section for the results.

James Hamblett won the Under 13 Milton Keynes Junior Open, beating the England No5 and No3 (U/13) on the way.

Isabelle Lacorte was one of 8 girls and 12 boys to be named in Englands 9 - 13yrs squad.

Club Dinner

The Club’s annual dinner will take place on Saturday 28th April at the Green Man, Stanford, Beds SG18 9JD. All members are invited including juniors and their families. I believe that our Chairman has already begun ringing round to get an idea of who may be interested in attending.

Club Tournament
We have a bumper entry for this years’ event with all divisions being well represented. Battle will commence over the weekend of 3/4 March and spectators including family members would be most welcome. Start time on both days’ is expected to be 9.00am

The 4 Star tournament at Grantham was held on 18th/19th November.
Again the full report is contained in the December 2017 Newsletter and highlights are in the Juniors section of this website.
The three young players (Victor Ramirez-Rioja, Isabelle Lacorte and Ilyssa Lacorte all performed very well (unfortunately
James Hamblett had to pull out due to illness).

Very well done to James Hamblett for winning the Under 13 event at the Milton Keynes Junior Open in January 2018,
He had to beat 2 highly ranked England players on the way (see Junior section for more detail).

Congratulations to Isabelle Lacorte who has been named in the England 9 to 13 yrs squad (this acts a feeder to the England Youth Squad.

Also congratulations to Dante Lacorte who successfully passed his Level 1 coaching Course. Maybe he can now explain to Isabelle and Ilyssa where they are going wrong !!!!

Finally:-
The Club Closed Tournament takes place on 3rd and 4th March. A lot of effort is put into organising this event by Bill Price and Roger Bowler and they would love to have the problem of a lot of entries, so please make every effort to support the club and play in the tournament.

October 2017

David Kells has been awarded Volunteer of the Year 2016/2017 in the local stage of The Pride of  Table Tennis Awards (Table Tennis England). He will now be considered for the Regional Awards, which will be announced early  2018.

September 2017

Balls , Handbooks and scorecards can be collected by the Team Captains on Tuesday 5th September from 19:45 from both Wymondley and Newnham, this will still be a practise night at both venues.

Renewed sponsorship has allowed us to purchase a new TT table for Wymondley. We will purchase a new table for use at Newnham when a suitable one can be found (as it is stored on the stage it has to be light enough to be lifted up and down).

Summer Practise

The club will hold summer practice sessions again this summer starting on Tuesday 18th July at 7.30pm.

The sessions will be held at the Great Wymondley Village Hall and are open to both senior and junior players.

Cost £3.50 per evening.

Any questions please contact Club Secretary (Roger Bowler).

In June 2017 this website went through another redesign. With past data of teams and results (Previous Years) being added back to 1988, plus 1976 and 1982. Unfortunately due to the lack of information this data is not complete for many of the early years.
As data becomes available it will be added to the Teams tables.

The Club AGM was held on Monday 5th June 2017 8:00pm at Bucks Head Little Wymondley
